Costa Rica Campers

The Hyundai Grace is a great car for Costa Rica. The high ground clearance and strong suspension will handle the frequent gravel or rural road easily.

This is the top. In the conversion it was raised 75 cm, so a 6' 2" person (184 cm) can stand comfortably. The converted 12 passenger van can be driven by anyone with a valid license.

The Grace is comfortable to drive and handles similar to any large SUV on the road. Tilt wheel, dual A/C and seating for 6 make your trip a pleasant one.

	Side awning over sliding door provides shade from the sun or cover in case of a rain shower. The picnic table folds up into a handy carrying case, but is strong enough to seat four adults.
	Hyundai Grace 1997 (12 passenger normal wheel base model ) Turbo Diesel engine, manual 5 speed transmission. Seats 6 and sleeps 4. Can be driven by anyone with a valid passport and valid license from their home country. AM/FM stereo cassette.
	Kitchen cabinet offers ample space for pots while cooking, also to store groceries and utensils. Next to the cabinet is the auxiliary battery compartment which allows you to run the fan and radio without worrying about diminishing the vehicles starting power. Carpet-less floor for low maintenance.
	5 day marine cooler with 188 can capacity (120 quarts or 114 liters). The storage compartment below holds the Thetford 155s Porta-Potti and has room for additional gear or luggage. Also shown is the storage position for the small folding table for indoor meals or cooking convenience and the folding picnic table for outdoor meal times.
	Sink and gas range with tank (standard size tank can be exchanged at larger convenience stores coast to coast).
	Raised roof with removable tablets, sleeps 2 adults. Shown is the 4 speed fan on auxiliary power, vents for dual A /C when the motor is running.
	Reversible 2nd row seat (faces forward for travel and backwards for relaxing). 2nd row seat folds flat for 3rd & 4th person sleeping - full size mattress sleeps 2 kids comfortably.
	The first row front seat seats 3, or the middle backrest folds down to hold cold drink cans. There is a convenient map compartment. The reversible second row seat also seats 3 and has 6 seat belts, so it can be used for travel in either position.

Other Accessories:	Basic first aid supplies, extra fuses, brake fluid and oil, jumper cables, cooking and eating utensils for 4, 12 volt to 110 volt inverter for charging cameras, cell phones or your laptop.

In field tests, this camper has proven itself to be a reliable vehicle on the road and comfortable while camping. The size is very similar to the Volkswagen Westfalia campers available for rent in in Europe, Australia and the U.S. The 2500cc diesel engine was designed to haul 12 passengers, so the camper is actually overpowered with its configuration. You have plenty of power to pass slow moving vehicles on the highway and of course to get up and down Costa Rica's mountains.
